Which flat pedals? Up to £40

I need to replace the pedals on my Cannondale SL3, and want to spend no more than £40; ideally less.

I've had a look at the Superstar Nano Tech Flats, which look pretty good, but are there any cheaper alternatives?

ETA: The other option is some (cheaper) DMR V8s. Are these worthwhile, or would I be better spending more? I'm not sure on the pitfalls/benefits of either.

The Nano's are worth the extra spend, V8's are OK, but really, really showing their age, they're tiny by current standards so aren't great with big clumpy 510's and stuff.

An alternative would be finding some Kona Wah Wah's or Nuke Proof Neutrons on sale, they're 99% the same as Nanos and have identical and interchangeable internals (handy if you need parts because Superstar sell everything in part form) or Nuke Proof Electrons which are the same internals with cheaper / lighter nylon bodies. I've got these and they're great, I've never once thought "errr these are plastic".

Cheers. I think personal preference leans me towards metal ones - I know that's irrational.

From a quick Google also, it looks like the Superstar ones are favoured quite widely. My only concern is that they are quite wide.

V8's are an old design, but their still maiking and selling them for a reason: They work and their easy to clean and maintain.

Can't speak for the V8 but I've been using the V12's for years and think they are great. I've just today had some 510 shoes arrive so will be interested to see how I get on with these in view of the comment above about them being a small pedal.

I would be tempted to spend the extra and go for the V12 and not have to worry about any maintenance. I don't know how often you need to lube them but I'm sure by the time you have used the grease supplied and then bought another tube you wouldn't be far off the price of the V12 and not had the hassle of maintaining them?

Superstar Nano pedals are generic design sold through variour outlets. You can get them cheaper from carbon cycles - they just put a different logo on them:

I put a set of V8s on my rockhopper nearly 15 years ago - they are as good today as when they were first fitted. I'm putting a new set straight on my new bike when my cyclescheme voucher turns up next month
Can't comment on the other options out there, but theres no denying the quality of the V8s in my experience

I've got a set of V8's and have to say that they are pretty damned good - solid, reliable and very grippy.

I am considering moving to something which has a bigger platform for my size 13 feet though

I don't think I can wait for the Superstars to be honest, since they say July for next batch.

The colour does wear off quite quickly. Up to you to decide how much that matters to you? My MTB is pretty battered anyway, so would look odd with pristine pedals.

Are they exactly the same then? If so, how's that? Sorry, new to buying pedals, but obviously saw rave review for the Superstars, and no mention of alternatives. Is this just since they've been out they've been copied?

I've got some of the Carbon Cycles ones and yes they're exactly the same. Superstar don't make their own, they just slap their logo on others.

I got bought some awful cheap resin pedals (Halfords' own) for Christmas, so I'll be attempting to return them for store credit. If they'll only let me do a swap, then I'll end up with the V8s, since that's all they sell at Halfords, bar really expensive ones.

Why not just swap them for inner tubes or something else generic that you're always going to need anyway and get the pedals you want online?
