The Recovery / Double Dip.
Discussion
I read with little enthusiasm this morning that it seems we didn't double dip last year. The overall figures haven't been revised much, but technically we didn't go into recession. It's a real shame really because I think the psychological impact of DOUBLE DIP RECESSSION! headlines hurt us far more than the slight loss in GDP.
But it got me thinking about the recovery, where is it coming from? I, like lots of people I think, am busy chipping away at our own little thing, I've got past two bouts of redundancy and I'm happy with my new role, although the pay isn't as good as I'm used too, not yet anyway, but I'm working towards the future my Wife and I want and hopefully we'll be where we want to be in two years, unless one of us gets laid off again and we'll be back to square one.
I was only a teenager at the end of the last recession in the 90's, but I remember a few months of dark times, then suddenly then BAM papers reported it was over and when we all left collage a short time later we pretty much all walked into a decent 'starter job' within weeks and a few personal bumps along with way, none of us really looked back for a decade.
Where's the 'BAM' going to come from, or wasn't it really like that last time? - Will we be all laughing about this in 2 years time, or will be we still living with the cogs of the economy jammed and chipping away, making the best of things and hoping to weather the next inevitable redundancy as best we can?

The government has made a mistake giving cheap money to the banks .
They have used it to shore up their balance sheets.
The government must provide real incentives for businesses to expand, tax breaks, etc
Get rid of all the red tape, business is hard enough without that.
Not a fan of Government spending our money,so often ends in tears.
Although I agree with the belt tightening that alone will not get us out of trouble.
The old maxim "speculate to accumulate" is relevant.
