Hello Aide,

yes, you're free to drive as fast as possible as long as it is not restricted by a sign....so you don't need the above sign. This sign shows only the end of a restriction.
If you enter the Autobahn and you don't see a restriction, you can give your car the beans....but be careful, in Germany it is advised to drive 130km/h and many people drive around this speed and dislike people driving faster.

I always press on in the unrestricted bits and have never met any resistance from the natives. They are very strict about getting speed down for the parts where there is a limit, but that's about all I found.

Currently, you'll find you can have decent bursts, but expect to encounter plenty of roadworks. Most of Europe seems awash with road repairs at the moment.

Thanks guys.

Can you get octane 105 at the fuel stations? Or am I wrong??

And if you can, should I put it in the Cerbera?

I just bought V Power throughout most of Europe. Paid over 2 Euros a litre in Italy! You can get some 98 octane there too. I wouldn't bother with anything higher than that personally. Not unless the car is mapped for it.

It is planned, hope the weather will be good ;-)

Regarding the Fuel: Most Shell-Stations have V-Power with 100 Octane, many ARAL-Stations have Ultimate with 102 Octane....Alternative is 'Super Plus' with 98 Octane, which you will get everywhere.

Hi Aide,
I have heard that they've tightened up a bit and that some Autobahns now have 130 kph limits. The Germans have the view that there is no 'official' limit but if you're involved in an accident and the evidence shows that you were in excess of 130 then there might be probs with insurance cover.

I just wait until my SatNav stops posting a limit and let her loose.

I see from you map that Lux is not planned.
Cheap Petrol, Booze, Ciggies and another Cerbera owner not enough to tempt you then.
I'm here 'til Independence Day. thumbup

If I stay off the Octane 102 (Yum Yum) I'd say it will cost around £600 in fuel..

Anyone want to hazard a guess?

700km in the rain through Germany and Austria.

Torrential constant downpour.

Spent the whole time below 70.
65 most of the time.

Any faster and the car started to set sail across the lanes. Nearly 5h1t myself on more than one occasion.

But... Once I started climbing into the mountains the clouds cleared, the sun shone and the roads dryed.

New suspension, new tyres and 100km of perfect empty alpine road made up for earlier.

I think I might skip the cycling race and head for Montalchino in the morning scratchchin
