Hazard warning lights - red button

After having my S2 on SORN for the last 3 years I'm now in a position to get it back on the road, hopefully before the summer has finished. The engine has been run regularly and brakes and clutch have been kept operation by runs up and down the drive but I'm now working through what seems like and endless list of little stuff before the MOT.

Last weekend was fixing the passenger electric window which had stuck in the down position. My right arm is now black and blue from unscrewing the tiny little hidden screw that holds the door panel on but at least some fiddling and silicone grease got the window going again . Monday night I managed to get the brake lights working again then disaster, I was checking the hazard warning lights, pressed the little red button on the steering colum cover, and the button basically just disintegrated. The red plastic bit has broken into about four pieces and looks to be beyond gluing back together. The hazard lights can still be switched on and off by pressing with a screwdriver on the square plastic bit around the bulb in the middle of the switch; but with the red button gone its not going to get past an MOT test. As far as I'm aware the steeling column is from a Sierra therefore I'm assuming the hazard warning switch is too. Does anyone by any chance know where I could get a replacement red button for the switch? Or worst case a new complete switch.

Any pointers much appreciated.

There is a guy on eBay who brakes sierras I'm sorry I forget his name but if you eBay sierra engine or diff for example you will find him. I would be truly amazed if he hasn't got one he was braking 3 or 4 sierras recently. Failing that if it was me I would just wire in a generic button

There seems to be more work in all these little fixit jobs than there is in the big stuff. I've now just found that one of the brightness settings on the dash lighting seems to have stopped working. I can see two big ballast type resistors on the front of the driver's bulkhead must be one of them that's gone. Only problem is that its a stretch to reach them and there's lots of jaggy bits in the way to rip my arm apart on.

Seems like the lesson for me is don't take the car off the road in the first place.

Well now, there's the Dutton Sierra, and the new GMC Sierra truck just announced (but they won't be breaking any of those for a while). Oh, and I think there's a Ford....?

It might be working, it's just that the first setting is very, very dim.

No button for the signal and the hazard button is round

Taken better look at "my" Ebay link and it doesn't look quite right does it?

Good luck round the breakers, went looking for a couple of bits little while ago and general reaction was "Sierra ? haven't had one of those in for years and if we did it would go straight in the crusher, no one wants bits for them anymore."

Thanks for the reference, I'm just finding my way about the site after a couple of years absence therefore just figuring out where all the usefull information is. However I'm confused, the S Series alternative parts list (I did look at the useful links) says the indicator hazard warning switch is from a Ford Sierra 82-86, yet the link you've flagged is for an Mk3 Escort Indicator Switch 1981-86? Did the Escort and Sierra have the same stalk and switch early to mid 80's? I'm not a Ford parts expert hence the questions.
