Been test driving cars for months trying to find something practical with 4 seats a boot but still fun ... and its been incredibly difficult to find something to be honest that ticks many boxes.... RS5 didnt get me going at all (which i was very surprised at tbh) , C63 AMG did but something was just missing in the handling and 'fun' stakes ..couldn't put my finger on it ...then I drove the M3 - in all fairness to cross it off the list - BUT was so impressed with it it became the car of choice... a schizophrenic vehicle is how id describe it .... family wagon with the kids in tow then hit the M button and its a snarling grippy rapid corner hunter..... love it .... took a while to find the spec i wanted but finally found a Competition spec in Mineral white pearl metallic with carbon bits and pretty much all the options ... having had various more expensive machinery this car well and truly punches above its weight ... the gearbox is phenomenal (i have DCT) the grip is unbelievable love the induction sound (needs a sports exhaust though) and looks menacing in comp spec..... only thing that takes getting used to is the baguette diameter of the steering wheel !!) love it .... esp those shift lights - makes me feel about 20 !! haha ...don't know how to post pics but ill try !

Very nice, you can get a thinner steering wheel for them in alcantara.

Order them from your dealer they are very dear though, still if you time it with a tyre change the net cost is around 2.5k if you factor a new set of boots is a grand.

You certainly have had see nice cars and I'd agree that the M3 is as good as it gets in many disciplines. I remember 'downgrading' from a Maserati Granturismo to an M3 a coupe of years ago as, after 4 months in the Italian car, I was desperate to get into something competent! It was far from a downgrade.

Lol at the "baguette diameter wheel"...a very good analogy! I used to really like the thick 'M' steering wheels but I'm not as fond now...not sure if that's because I've had other good (but less chunky) wheels since which have changed my tastes or whether the latest wheels have got even thcker.
