Hey there folks,

Hopefully going to Le Mans for the first time next year (2014) and am assuming its not just a matter of sitting around for 24 hours watching a race. I'd like some info from experienced attendees on the following.

- Getting there (scenic routes etc...)
- Where to stay
- What to do and see on the various days, lets say Thursday - Monday
- When an where to spectate
- Arranging tickets
- Any other info

Cheers in advance smile

Join both, read the guides. It's really hard to make reccomendationsnwithout knowing what you like.

A precursor - our team is a bunch of juvinile monkeys. Most phers would probably prefer a different combo:

Site - houx.
Bring gazebo, fridge, radio, seats and table. This is essential!
Thurs - drive down, enjoy the convoys on the autoroute. Buy all the tinned beer in super u. Pitch tents, crack open beer.
Go watch the qualifying from grandstands. Get super excited by the first noises you get to hear.
Return to tent, bbq, beer, introduce youself to all your neighbours and start the banter going.
Friday - tour of pits, check out the support race areas (accessable). Houx road / roundabout in the afternoon, do a runner when it starts to get overly silly.
Spend the evening with various neighbours, share beer.
Retire to camp for food, more chilling with neighbours, radio le mans keeps you going. Return to track for dusk / night as it's often reall spectacular. Drink constantly during this time.
Head over to the funfair, have a go on some rides. Bit more track, then succumb to exhaustion late on.
Sunday - up in the morning, brekkie and a bit of track. Come back for a bit, then it's back to the inside of terte rouge with the seat so you can see the screen. The screen is essential to really get the excitement of all the last 2 hours, seeing the podium battles of 4 classes at once.
Race finishes, return to tent and finish the resqt of the beer with neighbours, most of whom are now your mates. Have a tag team system so the pikies can't rob your gear. At the end of the night, put anything you want to not lose in car, enjoy the fireworks.
Monday - up, shower and away. Cruise back with a mixture of a feeling of a great week, and slight sadness that it's over. Start planning the next year.

This year, our band of monkeys didn't stop laughing for 4 days straight. If you like getting drunk, taking the piss out of virtual strangers (and getting brutally ripped in return), and generally regressing to schoolkid behaviour, houx is the place to be.
