In relation to the Dave Mustaine thread...

I don't think Ozzy is all that hot as a singer. Sure, he's a legend in his own right and has been involved in a lot of good songs but I think he was just fortunate enough to work with some extremely talented musicians, Iommi, Rhodes, Wylde.

When it comes to Sabbath, Ian Gillan had the most amazing screams, and as for Dio? Well, he's already achieved God status.

So, what do you think?

Both Ronnie James Dio and Tony Martin were much better singers than Ozzy. I'd probably rate Martin a bit higher than Dio actually. Gillan's singing style did not fit with Sabbath's music, it didn't work very well at all.

Ozzy may not have as good a voice as Martin or Dio, but he was an original member of the greatest heavy rock band of all time, and it is the original Black Sabbath that will always be the best of all the incarnations of Black Sabbath.

On early Sabbath he has quite a unique forceful voice, it's not pretty but it does suit the music well, like Megadeth.
