Lets start by saying, that I Grin ear to ear when driving the Aston.
To me she is like a quirky supermodel with some idiosyncrasies, sometime temperamental, but other times a pure joy.

We bought an 07 vantage roadster with 19,000 miles a few months ago
It's Oynx black with Black interior and white stitching

So far the car has been great, it’s really a head turner.
We used to have a BMW M3 before It got stolen and as such we were looking at other cars to buy and decided on the Aston roadster.
The wife insisted we buy a convertible and I wanted another sports car and so there wasn’t much argument.
It has more presence on the road than the M3, so much lovelier to look at and it doesn’t blend into the background like the dreaded P things
Oh and when it roars, it sounds amazing.

The only downside so far is that when crawling in traffic, I am getting the dreaded TPMC sensor warning. It goes out when I get up to speed but means I will need to look for replacement sensors shortly and it’s not covered by my warranty.

We are planning a European tour to Italy in September / October in the Aston (detailed route to follow)
Any tips people could offer, on travelling in an Aston Vantage would be great, especially as bootspace is somewhat limited.

I am looking at making a few changes to the car to bring it up to date and make it easier to live with for the trip and so thanks to the members who have documented their upgrades. It makes it easier for to understand what I can do and now I have a list of upgrades that I want to perform:

Fuse 22 remote switching (default to normal) (triple5)

Ipod connectivity using the dension Gateway 500 (Bought ready to install)

Front and rear Reverse Camera. (Jeremydb9) (bought ready to install)
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=129...

Updating the Sat Nav CD’s

The wind deflector for roadster (as we will be travelling at high speeds with Roof down (fingers crossed for good weather)

So in order to do the upgrades and understand how to pull the car apart, I am wondering if signing up to the Aston martin technical site to download the manuals / electric diagrams is worth the cost for the 24 hour membership? Or are there better manuals out there that people suggest?

There are a couple of other changes that I would like but wanted to know if you owners think they’re worth it
Retrofit of the centre armrest / cupholder off a 2009/2010 model as I want more storage options (anyone have a spare on one in black)
Anyone with experience of the TCU upgrade on the sportshift – does it make that much of a difference or don’t bother?

Nice car smile

There is currently a wind deflector for sale on eBay, i was looking for other parts and saw it on there yesterday , it's far cheaper than buying new from AM (it really does makes a difference when driving with the roof down).

Sat Nav DVD, i updated mine a while back - PM me if you want details of where i got the disc(s) from. i don't wnat to break any rules on the forum.

Would definitely be interested in hearing the costs of having front/reverse camera installed.

Very nice indeed and welcome to the Forum and AM ownership. That grin never goes away nono

Many of us have done European trips and posted routes. Grenoble to Cannes on the Route Napoleon, Troyes to Dijon on the Route De Dijon, various Swiss / Italian passes are also documented on various threads. Mikey K is one of the most travelled yes I am sure he can share some of the better passes wink

Welcome to the roof down Aston club hehe
Good isn't it! So much more noise, views, smells - an assault on the senses smile
I've had two and never bothered with the aero screen, it makes little difference and is a PITA on a Euro tour.
There is plenty of room in the roadster for Euro tours, the trick is to use flexible holdalls that can be crammed in to the boot, lay the stuff you don't want creasing over the top and 4 messenger bags will go behind the seats.
We got nearly 3 weeks of kit in the S to do this trip

Great car Morgan! Well done. As Mikey said there is really a lot of room in the boot if you use soft bags. If you have loads of stuff you could try forgetting the bags, just pack the boot and carry what you want in to the hotel. Lots can be crammed in behind the seats.
I find the wind defector does stop a lot of buffeting and especially if its cold, makes the cabin more comfortable with the roof down (where it should be wink )
The grin never goes away!!driving

Good guess on where we bought the car from, it was infact Mcgurks. clap
Mikey, the roof down club is fun and thanks for the tips, I feeling better that we might be able to survive our summer trip in it, unless the wife decides to buy half of Italy.
As for the wind deflector, I am currently looking at that one too and so will keep my fingers crossed no one outbids me for it.
I'll keep envy one posted on the camera, as looking at the car today, it looks like I need to pull half of it apart yikes to install the thing and so fingers crossed for some good weather and a good manual to understand how to put it back together again.
Hope to see some of you at Hever tomorrow. beer
