just spent ages cleaning all the greasy gunk from my front air intake, and wiped all grease from foam filter.

Does the filter go back as it is, or does it need oiling?

Definitely needs some oil - its one of those oil type things.... unless someone knows of a K&N replacement that can fit in the box?

Don't even start with that we've been there before...

Pop down to your local motorbike shop, get some PJ foam filter cleaner & reoiler (about a fiver each & lasts for ever)
Spray the foam filter with cleaner, leave for 10 mins then wash throughly, repeat if required.
Leave to dry.

spray the underside only with the reoiler & make sure its covered. Leave for 20 mins to soak in & refit.

Easy.

Im told its to 'catch' the dusty particles that would otherwise pass through the meshing....
