Did nobody else notice???
Discussion
At the end of the race, did anyone else notice the upside down German flag beside the Jap and other German flag? I spotted it straight away and was expecting to see a topic on here. A tad embarrassing for the organisers i thought: An upside down national flag is normally a signal given by a merchant vessel in distress or is sunken.

Sorry, missed that really obvious reference. lolecain63 said:

I'd like to think it was done deliberately as a signal of distress at the death of AS. The Russian flag was also flown upside down for the (then) third placed G-Drive Oreca in LMP2.
The Union Jack can only be flown on a military vessel or her majesty's residence. If you or I fly it, it is called the union flag. See Wikipedia....

Nearly right. It's a Union Jack when flown from the jackstaff at the pointy end of a ship. The only vessels allowed to do so are government owned ones.OvalOwl said:

Well, I instinctively thought this too, but then both the first and third P1 cars are Joest entries, so why only one flag inverted? If the team had requested it, I'm sure it would be for all their cars.I had also thought the ACO might have decided to invert the flag of the winner, but then realised if they were doing that, odds are they would fly everyone's upside down - like the no champagne decision - and they didn't.
Leads me to think it's a genuine mistake!

as its normally the union jack that gets put up the wrong way.
