Birmingham airport to Silverstone - M1 or M40?

Going to the Grand Prix on Saturday and Sunday. According google maps it is the same distance and time for either route, does anyone have any advice which would be quicker given the notorious A43 traffic.

M40 easier, out onto the M42 and thence on to the M40, at Banbury head up the A422 and at the first roundabout you come to, turn left and take the B4525 across country, it's an epic driving road when empty (and you've learned it), this brings you out just before Syresham (and if you box clever you may be able to find your way down the lanes and come out at Silverstone village right by the circuit) Rest assured, the earlier (distance wise) you join the A43 the longer the queue you sit in, will be
