1030 miles in 5days

1030 miles in 5 days and not one spot! Chim ran perfect 400 miles on first day Manchester to Lands End!

Comfy, great on fuel, loads of space for my "just in case tools" and all the Clothes my Mrs had to take for a week! In fact the only real issue was on the journey from Manchester to cornwall and cornwall to Manchester the boot was so full the back end was sat down and the front end in the air so it handled horribly but whilst running around cornwall with the empty boot it was perfect!

The ride height on mine is a bit low anyway so I had planned to raise it a bit before leaving, but didn't get any chance so just turned the dampers up a few clicks instead, but was really surprised how much the front lifted and the rear sat down. It didn't actually bottom out or ride badly just felt horrible on corners.

Mine was checked last Saturday, ahead of a track day this Monday. I got black flagged at Snetterton with my 18 inch rears on. They thought my brakes were down to the metal and smoking, but it was actually the rear tyre catching on the wheel arch. When we checked the ride height was only 140mm at the rear.....and then I took the lawnmower out of the boot and it went up to 148mm!! And mine is on a pretty stiff setting on the suspension.Rear ride height now 17mm higher and the car looks right again. It's worth getting the G spanner on it next time you do a tour. So long as you move those adjuster rings regularly, they should be easy to move. To be honest, its a job much easier done with the car up on a garage ramp. Distance from the flat plate (of the jacking triangles at the rear) to the ground should be about 165mm.
I will also be doing the trip from Cheshire to Lands End in the next few weeks, with a few stop offs in Devon and Cornwall along the way. Just hope the weather is as nice as last years road trip. Last time I was in Cornwall was for 1 day in August 1999 for the eclipse, so this holiday is long over due.
PS - Can you get you car along side the signpost with New York and John O'Groats on for a few photos?

This one!^^^ No you can't get near it, you can't even get your picture next to it unless you pay. As far as I know where my car is on the picture is about as close as you can get.
Just got back today, sunshine for all 8 days and covered almost exactly the same mileage as you. Car was as reliable as ever. These cars really enjoy motorway driving, usual motorway speeds returned over 29mpg on the way down. We didn't see a single TVR the whole trip which was suprising given the weather and time of year.
Where to next year???
