Front nearside damper sprung leak! This is the second time now with these, previously rear off side, and I've only covered a few thousand dry miles. Anyone else had this experience?
Have to say Protech were very efficient in repairs but that was within warranty, which has now expired. Also noted recently rears included referb unit are knocking a bit which was confirmed by TVR garage.

Funds really tight at the moment & given my experience of these shocks is it worth sending full set back for a referb & wonder how much this will cost?
Alternatively used units?? Does anyone have or know a set for sale that are in good condition?

Cheers guys

usually protechs have a very good reputation and to be honest, havent heard of leaks being typical.

i think they start to leak because there is something wrong with your suspension geometry or springs or height?

Send the set back for a service telling them that the mileage is small.

I bet that their charge will only be about £50.00

Interesting to here. Mine have done 14k and seem fine. I've cleaned the rears twice and the fronts once since fitting and they seem leak free. Ever so slight dampness around the top of one but that could have been caused during the stroud own of the suspension.

Only thing I've had to do is replace the spherical bearings as mine were showing signs of play.

Keen to hear how much a service costs.

I had one leak about 4-5 years ago.

I called down to the factory, they told me to make a cup off tea and read the paper. Less then an hour later I had a fully rebuilt unit at no charge!

I've just changed a car onto protech from gaz as the gazs had been rebuilt and were already leaking on 3 dampers, customer said he didn't want them rebuilding again and so the change to protech was made. You're very unlucky if you have a protech issue, they are very reliable dampers smile

Just been digging out invoices, service records etc. Shocks fitted 11/2009 at about 62.5k miles. Full Laser geo set up 02/2010 @ 62.8K & now at 73.9K miles, so to the point made they've only covered 11000 miles! So not so great IMHO given bilsteins had lasted up to then, 3 of them anyway!!

Anyway I will call them in the morning and see how much to refurb all four and will point out mileage, & keep you updated re costs.

Thanks for opinions
