Spoke to a powder coaters local to me and they have a new powder coat which is good up to 550c in Matt black at a fraction of the cost of ceramic. I've read threads that powder won't last 2 minutes but think this is a new product. Anyone used this with success or otherwise?

If the powder coating works its a fraction of the cost of ceramic.

550 degrees C may not be a hot enough rating depending on how you drive your car. If you drive your car hard the manifolds will glow red/orange hot. The temperature of the steel therefore higher than 550 degrees C. One way to reduce the temperature your manifolds see is to remove the precats and main cats. When mine was on the rollers the manifolds glowed all the way to the precats which effectively trap heat in upstream.

If its to reduce heat and to look good, then ceramic coating is best. Otherwise, I'd simply sand and polish the manifolds. I wish I hadn't painted mine now as they're super flakey and spoil my bay.

Thanks Chaps. Will give the powder coating a miss and save up for ceramic!
