Cant open door from outside

My passenger door is being a bit of an arse. It will open from the inside but not the outside. Had the door card off but its not mechanical like I thought. Just a black lead. I have no idea how to fix this.

My mot is due very soon so need this fixing.

Any ideas? and cost?

Its a 2001 Fiesta Zetec-s

It will be one of the metal rods that has either popped off/snapped or bent out of shape.

Take the door card off again and locate the rods for the door lock.They will be located right up in the top left hand corner by the door handle and the lock itself.

Some of them will be covered by a black metal box type cover.
You may have to remove this to gain access to the rods behind here.

Got it sorted.

The little clip that the handle uses to connect to the rod had snapped.
