I'm considering buying a GTR with an a/s engine 383 on carbs said to produce 535 bhp can anyone give me an idea of consumption running on uk roads & track use. Also what about ongoing maint of GTR- any major exsp on regular basis

That is the same engine I have in mine

Fuel consumption is not that bad, considering it's a highly tuned engine.

I can do about 200 miles before filling, not sure exactly what it does to the gallon, (it's only been on the road a month) but it's no worse than a petrol Range Rover.

Maintenance is easy, although you will need to change the oil and filter every 1200-1500 miles.

That's about it really. AP brakes last well, so i'm told, and the tyres depends on how you drive it!

mine does around 17mpg on mixed motorway/country road runs. Can go down to single figures such as at Bruntungthorpe but so did the BMW.

Can't be specific, but, £50 is a good run out when the sun shines, track day 100 litres is a good day. Servicing,better than red Italians, silver Germans and black Bavarians !!

I did actually work out my fuel usage but then stopped as it was too scary.

I got about 12mpg with "normal" driving.

However last summer I got it down to 7.4mpg on the road.

I did not even consider working out track milage.

I have got as high as 15mpg on a more gentle drive

It is worth every bit of fuel you put in for the fun of driving it.

I once got up to 23 mpg at steady cruise, 80 mph motorway (415 hp engine). A tad less elsewhere of course. Fuel economy not particularly high priority for Ultima owners! Reasonable tank size gives decent range (better than my EVO VI anyway).

Running costs dead cheap 'cos you should be doing maintenance yourself. Lots of oil, filters, the odd suspension bush, brake pads maybe etc etc etc but not high cost parts. Only big ticket items likely to be tyres (unless you break an engine or gearbox).

If your worried about MPG then fit a Standard LS1 as the C5 Vette can do 30mpg sat at 70ishmph. Considering a Vette wieghts 50% more than an Ult then you should be looking about the same mpg, (taking into account drag differences etc) and still has 345bhp....

Got 16mpg from mine on an 80mph, 200 mile run.
At 6.7 litres I don't think that's bad.

26 miles per US gallon (3.784 L) on the last 700 mile trip.
About 500 BHP 346 CID LS6.
10.86 @ 133 mph last time out.

When you stop to fill it up remember to turn off the engine or you could stand there all day.
