In the conference where Microsoft announced the release of the One, they also announced that the 360 will get free-to-download premium titles, 2 a month, until the One was released. I recall them saying that Halo 3 was one of the two games for the first month's download. Does anyone know when these games are hitting Live for free download?

I think this is a pretty cool thing MS are going, and I don't see it stopping at the release of the One. What would you guys like to see on FTDL in the coming months?

Bloody hell, nearly missed that. I thought they'd be publicising this on the 360 start screen, but it doesn't seem to be advertised on any of the Live displays on the menus. Even searching Fable III, there didn't seem to be anything indicating it was on a free offer, other than the price displayed had changed to "free". Downloading now, I'm not a big Fable fan but free is free.

It was advertised in one of the home screens for a while. Can't be too long before the next games available as fable has been up for a couple of weeks now.

Apparently Fable is only available until the end of the day, I suppose the next game will be tomorrow.

Game downloads are updated on 1st and 16th of each month. I'm excited to see what we get tomorrow smile

That's 800 points on the marketplace, what does that translate to in real money? £5? £10?

fk you Microsoft I hope you go bust.

I was waiting for AC2 or Halo 3... Sony got Saints Row 3 and several others that I thought, oh that'll be good..

Bullst

They're not even advertising it anywhere on the home screen.

That Defence Grid game got some good write ups, a sort of tower defence strategy game. It wasn't free last I checked a couple of hours ago but it should be up by tomorrow.

Not exactly a AAA title though, is it?

Fable 3 was pretty decent for free, I must confess.

I got it ages ago, its an alright game tbh, and gets quite hard later on in the game.

It's up and it's pretty good. I quite like this sort of thing, there are probably loads of hidden gems in the Live Arcade back catalogue that are overlooked. The recent SEGA sale encouraged me to pick up a few titles for cheap (and some I wish I had just left behind, like the interesting but slightly inane SEGA Bass fishing game).

Still, more AAA titles for free would be great. But as gamers, we really need to get away from our silly obsession with massive budget AAA titles, they have crushed a lot of the life and innovation out of the gaming market.

I think as there are two games a month, Microsoft will probably do a free Arcade title at the start of the month and a free big-budget game at the end of the month.

That Spartacus is actually not that bad at all, despite the 2gb download. Can't argue with a bit of gladiator styled 1vs1'ing for free.
