This Years ISA In Dogs?
Discussion
I just googled Nutmeg portfolio as it is a Brit thing
From a cursory view it appears to mimic what some of the large money managers (including conservative Hedge funds) do.
It does include an Index fund, personally I am not wild about Index funds, paying some guy 1% to deliberately follow the market down just never seems right to me
A balanced fund (60/40-70/30) would be my choice over an Index (but that's just me). Lose a couple of points on the up but score on the down.
It would appear their object is to not handcuff their managers to one sector or region as is often the case with funds, if the managers see an opportunity in Korea they can adjust their weightings to take advantage of it.
I didn't read the prospectus, but I would guess their objective is steady growth 8 to 10%, which makes it a good core holding.
How are the fees?
I have something similar to Nutmeg in the US, the managers can invest globally in almost anything they fancy, haven't had it long enough to give any performance but I am of course optimistic (aren't we all)
With regard to being in the dogs, well if you started in Jan '13 then perhaps that's true, but if you started in Jan '12 then this recent drop was just a blip and all appears on track for another decent year year.
Don't panic...don't sell.
