Hi to all.

I purchased a 2006 V8V this week. Love the car and have put 800 miles on it since Thurs. Although as it's black I suspect I'll be spending as much time cleaning it as I will driving it!

Have already cleaned out the boot drainage holes after meticulously cleaning the outside only to open the boot and flood the interior with water!

Trickle charger. I have searched on this topic but remain a bit confused (being a new AM owner of little brain).

If you have the old 3 pin plug and the 12v outlet in the boot can you use either (and the internal power socket) or just the 3 pin plug for a trickle charger?

Many thanks for any assistance.

Once I'm happy that the car is clean, water mark and swirl free I'll post some pictures (taken in the 15 seconds that it remains pristine).

Firstly, welcome to the world of AM and the forum. Enjoy your new P&J.

Secondly

confused

What is the 3 pin plug you have in the boot or am I not reading this correctly? If you have an AM trickle charger, it plugs into the 12v connector in the boot or indeed the one in the car to charge the system. I had an 07 and latterly a 59 plate, so perhaps 06 cars had another socket?

I believe prior to the use of the 12v socket there was a special three pin battery conditioner socket. Probably there so you had to use the AM charger rather than any Ctek or other make one.

Yes the older cars had a 3 pin plug but I also have the 12v lighter socket near it. Question is whether I can use the lighter socket for the charger in an 05/06 Vantage or have to use the 3 pin plug?

Thanks

I'm fairly sure you can use the light socket. Later models did away with the three pin socket and just use the permanently live lighter socket.

Maybe a quick telephone call to a dealer will confirm it.

Pick up mine on Friday and already asked this question and you can use either socket. One is xlr and the other is normal 12v. Either will suffice.

Thanks for responses. Bought an AM one, still in box from someone on the forum.

Took the car to the Centenary celebrations in Kensington today. Fabulous. Had to come home and wash it immediately of course - all that pollen, dust and black paintwork don't go well together. Now tucked away and charging!
