So decided to go for a toodle on sunday - pickup papers, go see my old Mum, you know - that sort of thing!

Got pass from the missus - fired up and off to the garage for juice.
Got this issue with my SPA dash, that if I leave the car in the garage for more that a few days, then on driving for the first few miles, I get no speedo? Then, without fail - it pops into life????? strange!

Anyway... I digress!

So there am I, cruising up toward M&S garage all nonchalant-like... and go over the bridge.. and.....nothing.... no throttle! Aaaargh!.... It's idling, but no response at all..... so going slower and slower with a massive lorry looming up my backside... I j-u-s-t manage to creep into the entrance of the garage before I loose momentum!

Bit of head-scratching later, I wiggled everything I could think of.. (no comments please!).... and viola! it began to work again...

On for another 5 miles up the motorway, off to the country-lanes, and damn-me - it happened again.... but I found the culprit!

The connector plug to the throttle blade unit seems to have lost its 'press-lock' plastic bit! So as the car gets hot and vibration gets the better of it, it slowly wiggles back far enough to give me grief!

So anyone got one?

Where do I get one?

Oh! - nearly forgot!

My old Mum insisted in getting in the passenger seat (well, falling in, is the best description!)... and get this, asked for a ride!
I couldn't believe it! Especially as my Missus refuses point blank to even attempt getting in...

OS on the road, me being very careful not to scare the old-dear... mum pipes up... "Well.. go on then...give it some!" Which I duly complied with, burying the throttle for a few seconds, and mum going all quite with a massive grin spreading from ear-to-ear!

And she is nearly 91 years old!

So... a challenge! Is this the oldest female ever, to ride in an Ultima - and surviving as you floor it? eek

WOW Keith a great story! Perhaps when I finish my build I will also take my Mum for a ride. She's currently 88 and lives alone at her home.

Conclusion and a message to all, if we reach that age I hope we can still enjoy the Ultima which will be around then. Perhaps we should get an old age Ultima owners club going.....

He, he, cool story!

My gran is 86 and it takes a fair amount of effort to her into / out of my RS, she hates it. Whenever taking her anywhere, I have to use wife's ST instead. There's no way she's ever going to get in the Ultima! In fact, I don't even see my wife or mom wanting to get in it either frown My baby girl likes it at least, calling it "daddy's racing car".... it'll be a few yrs before she's big enough to get in it tho'!

My 65 year old mum insisted a ride in my Ariel Atom, which was brave wink. Nowhere near your age of passenger though Keith !!

I gave Mum a ring this morning to make sure she was OK after the 'event' yesterday - I was a tad concerned about her back, since she slid into the passenger-seat like a sack of potatoes and jarred her spine (many older people suffer from osteoporosis) -

I kid-you-not! As soon as she realised it was me on the phone, she was fizzing like 1/2 lb of Enos salts in hot water! All she wanted to know was, when was I taking it to a circuit, and will I take her too!

Now THAT is ONE GAME BIRD!

Unbelievable....

Unbelievable indeed. I'm sure she could get into the Guinness Book of Records if you asked them...

My Mum asked me the same thing and had done several laps on HTTT Paul Ricard... But she's only 76 !
