Video Camera Recommendations?

Hi all,

Was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a video camera. It's main function is going to be for filming road trips and other car-related events so ideally needs to have:

Ability to charge in car / replaceable batteries
Some kind of image stability control would be good - will be mostly used without a tripod
A good a quality picture as possible with a widescreen, high def image
Option for manual focus would be nice
Good quality low light recording
Stereo microphone


I've looked at GoPros/ghosts as they have the ability to stick on the car, but really a hand held option would likely be best. Also these seem to have poor low light video recording.

Budget: £400 max. What sort of cameras should I be looking at for this price range?

Might be a bit over budget but it is a good all-round package.

You will still need some way of mounting the camera in the car, have a look at

The V700 does have removable battery's, uses full size SD cards and does Full HD at 50 FPS.

The V700 has now been replace by the V720 but its still a good bit of kit.

Thanks, the V700 looks like a good bit of kit actually Interesting the step up you get in low light quality with the X800 though, might wait a bit and see if the prices on them drop a bit!

Ended up getting the X800 Really impressed, especially with the low light performance.

Definitely need to invest in a decent video tripod though
