Cleaning up 996 headlights

HI chaps
Whats the best way of cleaning the plastic lens which are a bit scratched, cloudy and yellowed not terrible but not becoming of the car.
Any tips appreciated

3m do a nice kit to polish them up.

The 3m kit works well, if your lights are very bad you may need one kit per light.

there are plenty of restoration guys out there...did mine for 60 with clearcoat. Not bad if you have to buy 2 3m kits.

tempting to take them off the car (I did) but the guy said it made it harder.

I used toothpaste. Yes. Seriously.

I tried the toothpaste but it didn't really work.

The 3M kit did the job perfectly, about 2hrs to do and straightforward. Only trick is to get the silver headlamp washer cap off if you have litronics.

Restoration.

Quite common now to restore headlights. The service manager where I take my cars says the outside auto detailer does it for $50/headlight. The word I get is it makes a faded pitted headlight look new again.

Next time I take my Boxster in I'm having this done. The original headlight -- after 268K miles -- is so bad I've got flashlights with weak D batteries that put out more light.
