Cayman or Boxster £20k budget. Please help?

Hi guys,

I have been reading a lot of posts on the forum about both boxsters and caymans. I have bitten the bullet and have now decided to hopefully purchase one this week. I am still undecided on which one yet and wondered if you could help me?

I need a 2008 or above
Would like 18 inch alloys
Sat nav is desirable
Mileage lower than 60k
Must be from a garage as I have some finance I need to get as well

I will only be using car on weekends and hope to drive abroad. This is my first Porsche an want it to be right

I have seen one I like which is £18990 for 08 plate with black leather sports seats 2 owners and full porsche history which was last service 04-12 at 32000 . It now has 49,000 on clock so what service would it need. . Also it has 19 inch sports alloys with n rated tyres in good condition

Is a cayman better than a boxster? Bearing in mind only time I will have the roof down is when I drive abroad

Any advice I would greatly appreciate

The roof is not GPS driven, you can put it down in the UK you know. Roof down on a crispy sunny winter morning is great.

Don't get the finance thing either - I don't buy cars from a bank so I don't get finance from a car garage.

I live up North and the weather isn't the best! But I do suppose I would have it down more than that

The finance is HP which I get against the car not just a standard bank loan

Think I am leaning more towards a Cayman....

Well only you can make that call of coupe vs roadster.

Both at great cars and I don't think dynamically they are different enough in the drive to make it any more than a soft vs hard top decision. Personally for 987 I think the boxster looks better than the slightly dainty looking Cayman. Both look fantastic in new 981 guise.

Either way nice decision to have - enjoy the search and don't get hung up on PCM or not on these cars

I was Boxster all the way but I think this Cayman I have seen is a good one. Only concern is the mileage 49,000.

After this I will hopefully move onto a 981 boxster I'm couple of years
