Do you need sealer when fitting manifold gaskets?

You don't _need_ it but I always put on a smear of that white fire paste.

Anyone know where you can get the bigger port gaskets? (Preferably at a reasonable price!) The usual ones from Rimmer's are for standard ports.

Ah right thanks Adam, I've already got some Gaskets, I assumed
The rover ones would do? Am I wrong here?

Adam, Rimmers do the big ones too; on the RV8 tubular manifold section.

The answer is "it depends" if your heads have been ported then yes, it's best to, but if you fit the standard ones I reckon the bits that stick into the exhaust stream will be burnt off in a hundred miles so it probably makes no odds.

Sorry Adam, just struggling to understand that,
If mine hasn't been ported, are the standard Rover ones Ok?

Yes. Once you get the manifold off on one side you'll be able to compare the hole size against the rectangular hole in the gasket.

Ah great, thanks again mate, they have been recently removed while the gearbox was being changed,
So I'm hoping they shouldn't be to tricky!

Thanks again Adam

They have a few other bits to do, so while its in.
I'll have a peak first and see of coarse.

Thanks though Dix
