996 Turbo remap

A month or so ago I posted that I was going to change my 996tt for a 348. I got very close but for a number of reasons I decided to keep the 996. But it wasn't an event car (to me at least) so decided to spend some money on it. Looked at exhausts, remaps, interior touches etc.
In the end I went for a Revo remap (care of helpful chaps at Paragon), a panel filter and an alcantara gear gaiter with a short shifter. I can safely say it now makes me smile more than I thought possible! The speed is addictive - now c. 500bhp - 2nd and 3rd gears are just mental! The panel filter aids breathing and adds to the noise. Speaking of noise, a lot of people complain about the lack of noise, whilst I looked at exhausts, for the money the remap is worth so much more. Maybe in time I'll add something but I don't want it too loud....but for now the additional free revving nature of the engine makes enough noise for me.
The short shift works brilliantly and the alcantara gear gaiter/stick adds to the interior - just have to find a alcantara steering wheel.
The 996 tt has to be the bargain supercar at the moment, and with a little money spent can truly be even more special and more of an event car - without having to go GT2 route (need practically and all weather running). Oh and my mpg figure is creeping up now!
Just a few thoughts, happy to share more on anything specific.

what kind of costs have been involved so far? I would like an exhaust but don't know if I can justify the costs so the remap costs are of great interest.

A remap is typically around the £2k mark ( you can get cheaper but I wouldn't lol) then a descent exhaust is £2.5k +.peter
I think it is how the car should be as stock, that's how good it is!!!
Cheaper remaps are available, but I don't think I'd get one. My car was treated to a Manthey remap and Alcon break upgrade at JZM, and was worth every penny the previous owner spent on it. 
Other remaps and brake upgrades are available, but I would go for a well known and recommended company.

Resurrecting an old thread as I am new to this car.
Does anyone have any current recommendations for 996 Turbo remaps that are not expensive? Slightly disappointed with the performance of the car, or more specifically, how heavy footed you have to be to get that performance compared with my other car. Would like a bit more responsiveness and peppiness if possible. Ride is also ridiculously firm too but that's for another thread maybe.
How about Paragon? Anyone used them?
Enquired with Celtic who are commonly held in high esteem but as they kept telling me the stock car produces around 470bhp they clearly don't have any experience of the 996 Turbo. Their system seems to be confusing it with the 997

I had mine done stage 1, when I had turbos replaced etc. They under promise and over deliver.
The figures they quote are very conservative. My car is very much more responsive (too much almost) and pulls far harder. By various measures it is approximately 25-35% more powerful. A massive difference under foot.
It is inappropriately fast. You are limited at legal speeds by how fast you can change gear. Wonking.

Are you sure it's running properly? As "disappointing" and "performance" aren't words usually associated with a healthy 996 turbo.Does anyone have any current recommendations for 996 Turbo remaps that are not expensive? Thanks guys. I have sent off a couple of emails but any other suggestions very welcome.
I'm more inclined to go to a Porsche agent or a tuner who has had considerable Porsche experience as they will know more about the car's weakspots and how far to safely take it. Mine's a tiptronic so there won't be any clutch issues but who knows what else

Great thread resurrection. All the shops mentioned very good and close by to you too!
In order I'd agree boost leaks are a must check and drive the car stock for a while. Then if still not satisfied in terms of mods I'd go:-
1. Flappy paddle steering wheel
2. 997 turbo front callipers
3. Suspension upgrades like Bilstein B16 or Tractive
4. Tuning, + Europipe 2, do88 big pack intercoolers = 500-530bhp
5. Better more modern turbos with whatever horse power you want really with correct engine mods. 700bhp about perfect for dd

Nice thing is you can do in stages. I'd enjoy as is with no boost leaks for at least 12 months.

When I had the Stage 1 at 9E they supply different diverter valves and F pipe, too. The vbox indicated a peak of 480 whp, which is a fair bit more at the crank. It feels a lot faster than stock. https://www.nineexcellence.com/996-turbo-stage-1-9...

^This. What boost pressure are you seeing?Long story: There can be any number of things wrong, either through wear and tear and failure (pipes, intercoolers, actuators etc. etc. whatever the turbo has two of each usually) or through misuse and improper tuning.
My own 996 turbo, sold to me as "completely original" (that's another story and the dealer no longer exists, thankfully) was:
a.) over boosting
b.) redlining so it would record over-revs
All due to dodgy DMS re-map, sorted by Sports & Classic with assistance from Wayne at Chip Wizards.

They have had my car for 10 days so far and I am still waiting for the Estimate I was told would be forthcoming last Saturday and then yesterday.Deeply unimpressed so far since I had high expectations from all their positive reviews.
