Planning for Le Mans 2014 - First time!

Hi all,
Next year myself and 3 friends plan to attend our first 24H Le Mans race! We are currently researching/planning and I was hoping to get some advice from those of you that have been before!
Campsites: Houx and Maison Blanche seem to be 2 of the more attractive campsites. What is the opinion of everyone else here? Will be 4 of us in a single car with your average 4 man tent, i'm assuming the 7x5 pitches will be ok for that but i'll be honest - I havent been camping much!
Tickets: Where do people generally buy theres from, and when do they become available? The dates for next year seem to have been anounced (literally only a few hours before this post) as the 14th/15th June next year!
Is there anything else people recommend? All advice is appreciated!

Have a look at www.beermountain.com regarding the different sites. If you want a specific site, try agents like 1st tickets or Just tickets (the sooner the better) - private sites like Pestonheads offer more security and other features and will cost more. you may need 2 pitches depending on what other stuff you're taking (gazebo etc).

That is what I do each to there own, do your research on the camp site in question.

It all depends, on how you want to camp I would try and get there for Thursday leave on Monday.That is what I do each to there own, do your research on the camp site in question.

Have had a pretty comprehensive read through beermountain and had a look at the club arnage guide too, houx and maison blanche remain the most tempting sites, we're all students so dont have a huge budget for some of the private campsites etc! space wise we wont have a gazebo or anything, pretty much just a 4 man tent, a ford fiesta, and maybe a couple of camping chairs and a coolbox for beer!

first of all thats impressive getting all that gear into a Fiestarossa! good luck. MB we love because it feels like its right in the centre of the action, theres good viewing points, and within the circuit, also very close to the funfair and other stuff thats happening. the facilities or good enough, although showers can get cold. and generally the neighbours seem fine, well we havent had any problems. it is Noisy but, then again what do you expect if you pitch up a tent right next to a race track.

Much appreciated! Houx camping is a little bit cheaper through Travel Destinations (judging by last years prices) so thats the only real difference at the moment! When I phoned up last week to reserve our tickets, the agent (Just Tickets) was putting you on a waiting list if you wanted Maison Blanche. Houx was still available. Not sure if it was just them.

Our group usually doesn't have to start paying deposits for MB until November, but I do register our intent to go back pretty much as soon as I get back. and from speaking with Speed Chills who I book with, Maison Blanche sells out first for them generally. AlleyCat said:

Having said the above, went ahead and called Travel Destinations and made our reservation for next year! 4 of us, Houx camping, dover-calais ferry, happy days.
