technically it WAS Cat1... as they get old they get removed from the list frown

I had to remove the old Cat 1 alarm on my cossie and put a new one one... considering I had the original fitted and it was a clifford I was a little peeved but had no choice

I will look but I bet its still on the list.

From what I remember Cat 1 just means its self arming so if you forget to arm the alarm it does it for u?

In sure there are other little bits but that was the main reason

 Alarm with full perimetric and volumetric detection, battery backed-up siren.
 Immobiliser isolating a minimum of 2 operating system, passively armed.
 Anti-scan, anti-grab resistance of key codes.
 Coded fuel valve for L1.

Also has to of passed testing and have been fitted by an authorised fitter.

Andy is correct, our Alarm 160RLI has been removed from the thatcham cat 1 list

So surely when asked by an insurance company its a "factory fitted catagory 1 alarm/immobiliser" because it was on the cat 1 list at the time of the cars entry into service?

To be honest I've only ever been asked if it has an immobiliser and never its category?

I tell a lie, elephant used to have our alarm in their selection list and I assume they still do.

To further answer my own question, we are still covered under a 'cat 1 alarm and immobiliser fitted' as it was fitted before March 2012. However, the insurance do have a get out clause.

http://www.thatcham.org/files/pdf/compliance.pdf

(Page 22)
Category 1 Alarm and Immobiliser (Aftermarket Systems)
THE LISTING OF SYSTEMS DELETED FROM LIST
[AFTERMARKET]
Autowatch 160 RLi Universal TC2 – 906/0198 March 2012

These systems should be recognised as normal compliant systems if installed prior to the date of deletion shown unless otherwise indicated. These systems may no longer be in production and may have been superseded by an updated system. Please note the above statement is subject to individual insurer’s discretion.

Thanks
