How Does This Work Then - 26 Year Old Airline Owner

I read about this a couple of weeks ago in a Spanish newspaper about a 26 year old guy starting his own airline. Looking at the website its nothing special

Do they just hire an aircraft and do a deal with the airport to "rent" a spot once a week?

Wasn't it Richard Branson who said when asked "how do you become a millionaire running an airline ?" He answered "Start off a billionaire !"

Anyway thanks for he Oxford Airport link. I see there is a new service operated by Minoan Air - Oxford / Edinburgh which will be very handy when we move back to the UK.

It's a virtual airline in that they don't own or operate any aircraft, they just lease in another operator to run the flights for them. They sell the flights under their own name, but you won't see jetxtra written on the aircraft and they certainly don't hold their own AOC ( air operators certificate) or route licences.

He repeats it ad nauseum, but it predates his dalliance with aviation; I suspect in the UK it was Freddie Laker, & he may have heard it in the USA.
