Hi folks,

while I was spending some quality time with The Chim over the sunny weekend I found the manual door opener. I was rather pleased with this discovery but it got me thinking, I have heard tales of the 'secret' way into the car via the boot. After speaking to a local Chim owner who knew one way, I had a good hunt around but could not find anything, I realise this is not something to that can be posted on an open forum but I would be very greatful if someone could PM me or let me know how to find out.

Locking your keys in the boot or if you keep your jump leads in the boot and the batteries flat?

I had a bit of a panic attack in the south of France that I had shut my keys in the boot. Luckily I hadn't but is there a way to open the boot without using the button or a crowbar? Again, a PM may be best.

Thanks for any help, Rus

I would also benefit from this info - having had the car 8 years i've never quite figured this out - a PM would be useful

I did have a fuse blow in France which cut all the electrics (100amp in footwell) incl boot lid access where all my tools/spares were kept. Lesson learnt i now carry some essentially behind the seat. Managed to fuse two wires to release the boot but only because a passer by had some cable .........

Me too please. I'm heading for France in a few weeks and would hate to have a problem while I'm over there.

I haven't had occasion to test it but I'd suggest a 9V battery and a piece of wire might be enough to open the boot from inside the car..

bear in mind the switch just passes 12V down to the solenoid, I suspect 9V might just be enough to pop it.

When I wired my remote boot release in I ran it straight from a non-switched 12V feed with an inline fuse so in theory i should be able to trigger my boot even if all the electrics go down - assuming it's not the battery that caused it LOL

I may pop out and test that...

Great thread hehe

It would be useful to know for various reasons, lock keys in boot, dead battery and I like to know as much as I can about my car smile
