Range Rover Sport Brakes

Hi, first post, first question. I have a 2010 RRS 3 litre diesil 16000 miles but feel the brake pedal had a lot of travel & they seem soft. Even trying an emergency stop, I cant seem to activate the ABS. Pads look ok. Any suggestions or is it worth uprating the discs/pads & if so can anyone suggest a make. Thanks
