Quick reminder about the lovely & moving documentary of the work and life of Vivian Maier as part of the 'imagine...' series on BBC1.

It's on iPlayer now:

If you like street photography you'll love her work smile

That's fascinating. Thanks for the heads up thumbup

There are a couple of things that strike me (overall I didn't too much care for the programme itself - don't like the way it was told, but still an interesting story)

What a shame that there are people that are now profiting - whilst I can't blame them for their enterprise, and I, myself, would very much fancy just having one print of hers, it doesn't seem right that the world continues to profit from this poor lady's simple passion.

I'd love to visit that camera shop in downtown Chicago - it looks like a treasure trove!

What a beautiful piece of equipment a TLR is - quite reminded me what a fantastic perspective you can get on the world. Quite inspired me to think about sourcing a good TLR and getting some street scenes myself! Have never owned one.

A TLR also allows you to cock the shutter without winding on the film, and thereby lose all the photos you thought you had.

Ask me how I know...

I also recommend Bill Cunningham New York!

He's one of my favourite street photographers and such an interesting bloke!

Was broadcast in 2013, is no longer on BBC iPlayer, does anyone here know wher to get a copy ?

Would be a great present for my sister.

It's on YouTube, but not sure where you'd get a physical copy.

A 'friend' informs me that it is possible to download videos from YT and then burn them to DVD if the mp4 (or whatever) file is not enough.
