My bonnet catches the window rubber when closed, how do you adjusted it to take it away from the window?

Look where the bonnet fits onto the damper mechanism. There is a nut on each side for adjustment.

Just do it a little at a time checking that the bonnet rollers don't foul the wings as you put the front of the bonnet down.

So I loosen the nut and the locator for the strut (with the socket in for the ball joint) should wind up and down the thread? Except mine don't seem to want to turn at all

No problem, take the bonnet off to give your self some room, give the adjusters a good soak with some WD-40, leave it for a while and get them moving again.
