As it says on the tin. After 64k the gearbox has gone west and is coming out next week for a spruce up. Luckily I'm on my jollies whilst its out so won't be missing to much driving. There goes my card again :-(

Sorry to hear that, but on the bright side used T5WCs are available for about £500.

How much are you paying for your rebuild?

Not sure yet but I want one I can trust rather one that's been pulled out of crashed unit etc. Fingers crossed I should have it back soonest after my holidays. I can use all gears but its got a death rattle so looks like something loose inside.

If you can get a motorsport upgrade, it involves extra bracing and bearings inside the gearbox and makes them much stronger.

I'm sure it's a bearing that's gone after its many thousands of miles. Something nice and solid which will handle some hard work without paying a fortune will do for me. I should know what's gone next week and i will let you know how its going to be solved.

New parts smile

My box blew 5th gear few weeks back, did an exchange deal with gearboxman.co.uk

He knows his stuff and has done a few tweaks to the new box to improve any week points, not cheap at £650 ( you need to send him your old one ) but comes with warranty and felt great from the moment I selected 1st gear. Changing from first to second from cold feels fantastic compared to how it did so well happy with new box

Looks like the price I've been told. Funny thing is its been missing gears at high speed for perhaps a year but not a problem when just tripping around. Thought it was me ballsing my gear change but now I know different. Suppose at 12 years major parts fail and its one of those things. Next will be the engine and that's when I rape it and do the full rebuild....I hope years in the future.

Had that too. Quite common. Went for Quaife gears, a tad noisy (straighter cut) but bullet proof smile

Mentioned the straight cut but I'm a updated box. Hi ho but should be in this week and with a few other things I'm having done it will be ready for the first thunderstorm of summer smile

Same here, with the closer ratio option, after I broke 5th twice in a year with standard box ad recon standard one.

Its been absolutely solid and coped with a few trackdays and lots of foot to the floor stuff thumbup

Better not go again but I'm sure it will be fine. How noisy is the straight cut gears?
