I'm wary of raising this subject for fear of it being too sensitive to anyone involved, but here it is.
Returning from a Le Mans trip (year unsure but possibly '99 - '02 era, bound for Le Havre) my mate and I were passed at high speed by a short convoy of fast cars having a play on the dual carriageway, nothing too unusual in that. Shortly we happened on the aftermath of a car crash. At a curving off slip road from a dual carriageway, a single car had evidently overshot the curve and ended upside down along a dry ditch at the far side of a grassed area off the slip road. We grabbed a fire extinguisher from the car and ran over to help if we could. One or two other brits had stopped also. The car was a TVR of some kind, the engine was still running (badly), back wheels turning.
The occupant was conversing with us okay from under the upturned car, he wanted a knife so he could cut himself free from the 'belt, but we didn't want to incase he broke his neck falling out (I now think we should have though). He was getting increasingly angry about his predicament, understandably, and calling us some ripe names. We debated turning the car back over but there weren't enough of us in my opinion, we could have made things a lot worse in the attempt. We wanted to know if he had a passenger but he refused to discuss that.
Shortly a fire crew arrived and we were ushered back, the crew stood scratching their heads however, clearly as bewildered as we were with how to proceed. Feeling a bit shocked and helpless we stopped Brits left the scene with crossed fingers and pushed north.
It only recently occurred to me that someone on here may know more?

providing his arms and legs weren't trapped / broken I struggle to see how he would have broken his neck? As you support yourslef as you are relasedits aTVR not a double decker bus the 'fall ' couldn't been more than a foot or two

I certainly remember a similar crash about then with a cerbera, that missed the turn off as xxx mph and ended up inverted. IIRC the driver was ok eventually.
