Just a few coins change off £3000.

seems right, but not sure I will renew my warranty when it comes around. That is way too steep.

yes

Years 4 and 7 tend to be the most expensive.

A minor point but a shame to see the full MOT charge being levied. It is a maximum price, not a target price frown

I have mine done with Service and don't get charged. Grange wink Although I did buy the car there, so I guess they want me to buy the next one there too.

I bought a servicing plan when i got mine, so should take care of most things for 3 years...

warranty renewal looks expensive, does it cover bits like clutch?

how much should you expect on the 4th year then?

i had a lot of rattles sorted under warranty and they picked up the car from my home and returned it many times on the truck as well for free. Bonnet paint issues were also sorted under warranty.

I struggle to imagine owning such a car without the warranty. Mind you, with 1600 pounds you can get an awfull lot of stuff done.

Anyway, I have never paid a bill as big as this one on a car and feel a bit dizzy afterwards.
Always painfull the first time?...................... Very true as far as I am concerned.

Err... no. Clutch, brake discs/pads and tyres are consumables.

However it does cover manufacturing defects or failures (bearings etc), but 99 times out of a 100, they just wear out!

They are taking the piss out of you. Charging you for the pre warranty inspection at the same time as the service! Dealers will do it for free as servicing covers the same checks.

They may well be, but I was told the inspection is half price as it's being done at the service.

He is correct...pre warranty inspection should be free, always was when I renewed my warranty........but .....you get what you negotiate ........it's a bit late now to winge

I have my car serviced every year at Stratstone and always agree a price before the service.......it averages out at £600 + VAT

Ouch indeed - just paid £695 inc VAT for mine, but it was the 1st year.

Remind me not to keep the car 3yrs!

As others have said, my MOT was thrown in by the dealer when serviced. Personally I have not taken the extended warranty, I won't know if that was a good decision until Novemebr, but I have roadtax, insurance and tracker at the same time too. It's an expensive time of year!

What does the cat bypass do? Obviously it is what it says, but why would it be required?

We all have different views about risk, but I did not take the extra warranty and nothing went wrong. It would seem therefore, that I now have £1600 in my mechanical repairs kitty.

It makes more noise smile

There are sufficient primary cats in the OEM manifolds to pass an MOT.
