I'm looking to purchase some suspension for my GT40 project, the manufacturer are selling the AVO shocks for around £700.00 but I have been quoted £550.00 for a set of Gaz golds, both sets are 2" shocks with 2 1/4" springs. Obviously there s a price difference but s there a difference in quality? I don't want to save a couple of hundred quid and regret it later!

Any thoughts?

I have no experience of AVO myself, other than buy a car with them fitted and their being very worn. I have bought GAZ new twice now and had one unit fail, that was repaired under warranty without any problem. The first set I bought corroded quite quickly, but I understand they use a tougher coating now. The after sales service was very good and I'd certainly go back again.

Hope this is of some help?

I had an older set of Avo's on my Westfield, I replaced the fronts as they started to leak, and the newer versions were nowhere near the quality of the old ones. For example my old ones, every adjustment click from full soft to hard was lovely and defined, on the new ones, you had to get half way up the scale before you could feel them.

Never had a set of Gaz, but heard lots of positives about them.

I suspect they are out of budget, but have you consider Nitron, I have got a set on my Elise and I don't think I have come across such first rate damping before.
