Yes there is, you need to replace the speedo drive gears in the end of the gearbox but i'm not sure to what you'd need to change i'm afraid.
I think it would also be a fairly hideous job to do with engines in situ.
I beleive you can get the speedo's recalibrated but I think that would be a much more expensive option.
Failing that remember to add 8 mph to what ever it reads
I run a digital speedo that reads off the rear wheel so i didn't have this problem when building my car

Yes, contact Speedy Cables , and they'll be able to give you a new speedo cable to correct the problem, and will talk you through everything you need to do.
you have nt said wot size of wheels ur mini s have nd which speedo type centre or later. for later speedos n 12" wheels use 6 tooth drive gear n 16 tooth pinion , this will suit the 3.44 diff from the metro boxes.if its the centre speedo ull have t get ur speedo recalibrated and change the gears.
unbelievably a mate of mine was done for speeding in his dodge challenger, and wrote in his defense that the speedo was inaccurate and as he'd only newly aquired the vehicle he didnt know, and they let him off, anyone else would have been done for an inaccurate speedo. I changed my final drive from 3.1 to 3.7, so now i'm reading 15% high.
