Hi all,

I am new to chimaera ownership and also new to the Kingston area!

Currently I have a limited mileage policy on the car so I am trying to find some good national speed limit roads in my area (not keen on having to travel 30 miles to find some at the moment!).

Does anyone have some good suggestions?

Cheers

You're pretty restricted in Surrey.

I am always envious of guys who live oop north for their choice of roads.

Even though Surrey has some beautiful scenery it is also one of the most densely populated areas.

Look at a map and take in roads from the North Downs, (look me up if you like) travelling down to the South Downs taking in the hilly areas.

Also travel into Hampshire, Butser Hill area.

While you are there take in some of the quiet coastal areas, Ferring etc where there are a few cafes on te beach

Same over here Peter you have to go coastal rolleyes then you get stuck behind old codgers that insist on driving at 30 in a 50 shoot followed by robots that are to scared/brain washed to pass said codgers frown

What is it about overtaking on A & B roads, hardly anyone does it anymore.

I used to spend most of my young driving life on the other side of the road biggrin

Some of best drives in Surrey have been by picking a general direction to go to, usually towards the coast and setting the sat nav to shortest route.

That then takes in loads of scenic lanes that hardly anyone uses.

When I first started driving in the UK 30 something years ago, it was not uncommon to have oncoming drivers 'split the middle' on single carriage A roads, and no one batted an eye.
You just moved a little further left and thought "good luck to you".
These days, if you overtake some "codger" or "robot" while they are doing 40 in a 60, you get blaring horns and flashing headlights.
And I do mean legitimate, safe overtaking here.

Where did everyone (else's) testicles go?

BTW, for those that do it; driving 70mph through the 30 zone that I live in is not proof of your manhood.
If in future you would be so kind as to leave your address so I can return the favour...

PS. no TVR drivers are currently known to be in this group

Sorry for the above rant OP smile

Having lived in Wimbledon Village (with my TVR) for a few years, I know your area fairly well, and I would suggest that unless you want to drive at night, you are fairly goosed for good roads within 20-30 miles.

I am with Peter/phazed on his suggestions, having also resided in the 'land of the chrome rooster' for a few years;
Down the A3, or A24 will be your best start. The A24 is also very popular with bikers, and there are some good alternative routes off the A24, just south of Dorking, for heading in a similar direction.

You are a man of the world Mike!

Quite right about the mad bikers on the A24, one F*ckwit proudly told me how he had passed the top of my road, (a 50mph limit) at 150mph!

No wonder they pull them out of hedges, usually brown bread and I honestly don't care and I'm a biker.

Mini rant over smile
