996 gt2 intercooler upgrade

Hi guys wanted if possible some advice on a good upgraded intercooler for my 996 gt2,
car already has a remap and cargraphic exhaust looking to get even more power any suggestions would be very welcome

Hello, for cars up to 600 bhp the GT2 RS intercoolers work really well. The intake temps are considerably lower. The ducting has to be modified a bit to get them to fit, but they look pretty much standard when they are on.

+1 for the money you cant beat them unless you spend a few grand on aerospace cores!

Thanks guys gt2 rs intercoolers seem the way forward just need to work out
the best remap available for the car to make the most of the modifications.

Have you looked at the package 9E offer - http://www.nineexcellence.com/performance/9ETuning... ?

It includes the intercoolers and a remap. Definitely one of the more experienced tuners and regulars on here (Ken)

Changing to RS intercoolers doesn't necessarily warrant a re-map. 9E changed mine on my modded X50 and did some other work and we didn't go down the root of a re-map.

This is correct you do not have to remap,your car for the inter coolers but they may allow you to run slightly more when you do.

But overall it will allow your car to produce more power in hotter conditions like today.

Quite right Nick. There is no need to retune the car for better intercoolers - even a standard turbo will benefit instantly. But when you know you have decent intercoolers on, you can run harder in the tuning, subject to fuel duty.

Apart from consistency of performance, and not pulling timing over 110mph+ like a lot of tunes do, we are now gaining 1 second (huge difference) in the 60-130mph performance measure alone with gt2rs intercoolers compared to standard/x50/s/gt2 versions.

Just to give some data
- standard car over 6 miles hard running, AT 20c, IATs 48c peak
- tuned ( basic ) over same, IATs 55c peak
- tuned with gt2rs intercoolers, 38c peak.

Major difference, especially since trigger is 37.5c.

Of course that depends on who does the tuning. I would say they are probably worth 3 seconds in the 0-300kph.

Should be no more than 1300gbp+vat to fit. Porsche have put up the price of the intercoolers recently...I wonder why

They work up to around 650bhp, after that they restrict flow too much.
