Appreciating porches? Nah I'm more a conservatory connoisseur myself

Rumor has it an aquiantance was offered £400k for a 356 carrera, and turned it down. These, when availiable were around £250k a few years ago. (just for anyone unfamiliar with the 356's, these were the real Porsche's before the hideous 911's came along and spoilt it for everyone ;-) Forget your SWB 911, long bonnets, impact bumpers, watercooled debate, it has been going on for 50 years!

I don't believe that figure unless there is some significant provenance or if it's a time warp car like the SCOM 959. I assume a buyer with some common sense of course and not more money than said common sense...

The car I am referring to I believe was a 356a, well known history, well known guy. Offer was from the far east if I heard correctly.

I'm not so sure, most people are buying with cash as it's earning so little in the bank otherwise, which is more sustainable than values shooting up when everyone's borrowed the money to buy them with, which isn't really sustainable.

Anything air-cooled, well kept, sensible mileage should at least hold its value IMO.

996 GT3 getting plenty of mention at the moment, but perhaps the more classic shape of the 997 GT3 would be the one?

Suspect the problem here is that so many are still being driven, god forbid...

Its perhaps more interesting to turn this question on its head and ask which models will ever appreciate? The 928 GT (S4 SE) for example? Could ask a similar question of any front engined Porsche. The rare ones such as 924 carrera GT and 968 CS (non-sunroof M030) have appreciated but not by that much really, nothing at all compared to a pre 74 911.

Well for me, it's the one that puts on smile on your face when you drive it.
I have got the only 911 model, I wanted so I am happy even if it drops in value it does not matter to me.

However for some funny reason, they have just gone up each year I have no idea why either?
At the end of the day, buy the one you want and enjoy.

Looks pretty clean to me matey.
Also you have done a full bare metal spray haven't you so it will be no doubt a stunning car, and yes I like the Blue too to be honest.
