I have just had a close call with a major engine problem.
The story: driving home in the Sag the fans started during slow traffic and 23/24 degree temperatures. Suddenly they began to make a horrendous buzzing noise forcing me to pull over. As soon as i went to the bonnet i could see a liquid pouring out from the front and began to think the worst. Removing the bonnet wasn't easy considering the heat (and i probably should have let it cool down before opening), but i couldn't have been more relieved with what i saw.
Somehow the windscreen washer hose got caught in the fans and torn to shreds, the fluid pouring out was simply water from the reservoir. with no other damage and the shredded remains tied up out of the way i continued on home.
Has anyone else had a near miss/close call? something that could have been serious but turned out to be simple/silly?

Set off after checking the water level, realised after a couple of minutes in the rad cap was still balanced on the windscreen wiper
. Good job I always follow the warm up procedure and was taking it easy otherwise it may have rolled off the window and I would have been none the wiser until I overheated!Gassing Station | Tamora, T350 & Sagaris | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
