I am way behind the times with PC's these days.

Have just bought myself a new laptop with windows 8 on it (bloody hate it so far) and want to install some games.

The only game I have a disc for is 'Driver- San francisco'. When I try and install it I get this coming up.

Ah, that message is unreadable, wonderful..

It says:

"Installer user interface mode not supported.

The installer cannot run in this UI mode,to specify the interface mode, use the I-command line option followed by the UI mode identifier. The valid Ui mode indentifiers are GUI, console and silent."

To me, this message doesn't mean a lot, can anyone translate It into English?

Thanks a lot smile

I think I might have to install a copy of windows 7 or something, I am really not enjoying the windows 8 experience..

Can't answer your problem but empathise. I could do with a new laptop, but the fact that they now come with Windows 8 installed is putting me off.

I bought a new laptop a couple of months ago (i7 Dell Ultrabook with touchscreen) and yes, Windows 8 is a bag of wk. You can download a start button (I paid $5) which is good and it means it will always start in the desktop as opposed to the children's interface.

Windows 8.1 will put the start button back. 8 has been a huge mistake I think but MS wont admit it because they will too much face.

Try doing a compatibility mode test on the game. If it worked on Windows 7 set it to windows 7 and the program will believe you are running windows 7 and start the game. It worked for me on Steam when I was in your position 2 weeks ago.

Edited to add link- http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows-vista/m...

I couldn't get that game to work and really hate the rest of the OS so I just took the machine back and got a shiny new ipad and some change.

Thanks all smile
