front tyres

HI folks,

I am sure there are some that have played with the tyres on the ultima already, I still have good year F1 on the front and they still look
quite new after 4000 miles. Last week I installed the wheel set from my other car and they are Pirellis, and it seemed to me that they have more grip in the front, which I liked immediately. I have been googling and the tests for Michelin Pilot Sport seem quite good and the tyre is not the cheapest one.
I would opt for this as I have a new set of Michelin back tyres waiting to be installed but would not care to mix if there is a more sticky front tyre.

The Khumo track tyres are very sticky and have quite a bit more grip when warm than ordinary road tyres in the dry (they are not good in the wet or cold).

The difference is the ability to floor the throttle in second and have grip rather than wheel spin. They get so sticky when hot that they peel the paint off my workshop floor if I park the car straight after a drive.

However, (there is always a "however") they do not last long.

I find it necessary to have two sets of wheels and tyres. I set with Khumo and one with Pirelli.

thanks I somehow discarded the idea of the sticky tyres that only work when really warm, so what is the next best, Pirelli or Michelin ?

I was talking to Ted about tyres recently and he said the Michelin Pilot Sport are by far the best tyres for every day road use.

they are Mike but look at the prices!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the Toyos are a fantastic tyre last well and grip like you wont believe but front wheel width prevents front tyre choice.

1. The Kumo as very good up front and last very well... its their rears that don't last long.

the old Dunlops I had were lovely but wheel span in 3rd gear, and good all round tyre.

Price is the problem..as these tyre sizes aren't popular any more and the old the car design gets the less tyres that will become available..

We will just have to keep wearing them out so that demand remains high!!

I have Federal 595RSRs on the front and r888s on the back. seems to work well

federal on the front.. interesting? do you have any nervousness at high speed, etc ive experienced with the kumo/toyo combo

I have seen these federals too, they seem to be road legal, how well are they working on the road ?
