Hey everyone,
Does anyone know or can prove the exact amount of V8Ss that are still "alive" today?

Not sure anyone can prove this but I believe "How Many Left" lists 34 if I remember correctly, but it seems poor book keeping at TVR and DVLA miss quotes can alter the models quantities with TVR "unknown" listed as a model, and the cross overs of 280 and 290's.
Maybe the TVRcc has accurate lists??

I doubt anyone can provide a definitive number. PH probably has as good representation as the TVRCC so the number listed here is a good start.

Vagaries of TVR's and the DVLA recording and system make it unlikely you'll get a definitive number.

Just checked this info, and "How Many Left" only has 23 left, a drop of 8 from last year which seems unlikely, considering how they are loved and admired,
8 would not just be lost!!
TVR " missing" lists 757 in existance but last year 979, so wildly fluctuating figures 222 just disappeared or gained correct description, but no others seem to have gained by this quantity so the short answer is......
.
Nobody Knows... !! tongue out

Mines a 290s apparently. The how many left database won't be all that accurate due to TVRs irregularities in registration process. It can only be as accurate as the figures, which unfortunately for us is not very!

Yup, mine does. Never really thought much about to though.

If you take the 400 built with about 10% attrition a year it'll leave about 200 or so now which is probably about right.

290S listed with 3947cc engine - I was guessing it may be possible to do a paid enquiry to the DVLA to get numbers of those plus V8S.

I never got why some are 280s and others 290s.. what's the difference? Does it count only for V8Ss?

No it's the same for V6. TVR were not very bothered about what the cars were registered as, hence the 280/290 mess.

Some of the missing V8s may have been exported to europe.

The DVLA figures are never accurate (for anything!).

I thought 280's were the original 's', and 290's were the 's2'

That seems to be what TVR intended.

However, they didn't bother much with their paperwork, so some S2's are registered as 280S and some V8S's are registered as 290S.

My very early 2:8 S was registered by TVR as a Tasmin.
DVLA say they will change it only with written proof of model type from the manufacturer.
Oh well, it's been a Tasmin for nearly 26 years now ........
