SWMBO managed to clatter the house with my car at the weekend and has cracked the corner of the bumper pretty badly. frown

It needs a new bumper, so rather than replace it with a standard one I was thinking of something a bit better for off road (and more house proof...)

Annoyingly I can't grumble too much as I somehow failed to put her handbrake fully on the other day and her car rolled down the drive, trashing the rear offside quarter and door. banghead

Look at winch bumpers. You don't have to fit a winch. Have a look at what is available on ebay for examples

Sadly most aftermarket bumpers for Discos are pretty pricey. A simple tubular one is likely to be the most cost affective option. And will offer up improved approach angle and more front 3/4 protection. Many also have mounting points for spot lamps, recovery points and high lift jacking points.

I got mine off ebay. So might be worth having a look about. Also lots of LR venders that advertise in the LR mags.

As for winch bumpers, if you want a winch they a fine, if not they'll just look a bit naff and are usually heavier and longer.

It looks like a standard bumper is about the same as an aftermarket one, but then needs paint... And I do like the standard look. OTOH I am working on getting access to some woodland where a winch might come in handy scratchchin

Have you priced up a new standard D2 bumper?

Seem to be £2-300 plus paint. I've been to the paintshop today as the garage dented my bonnet when they serviced it and they'll patch it for £120 so all is good. They're also going to have a go at polishing all the scratches out so hopefully it'll be very smart soon.
