Need a food diary app
Discussion
Long story short, I don't feel like I have control over my food intake anymore, I used to keep a close eye on it and tried to stay under 2,500 calories per day (don't have the will power to control carbs etc.) Lately however I don't think that I'm being very good.
What's the name of the app I keep seeing people's screenshots from on here? I reckon if I had an app that could help me keep track I'd find it easier to resist the crap that I know I should't be eating.
I'm hopeful if I can do this I may actually see some results from going to the gym instead of what I get now which is basically to prevent my gut getting bigger!

I use myfitnesspal. It stores your diary online, so if you download the app to your phone, ipad, laptop etc you can track your calories in and out from pretty much anywhere you can get an internet signal, be it home internet, wi fi or 3/4G. It's free, which also helps. It has a barcode scanner built in so you can scan the codes on what you are eating to get them added to your diary quickly.
Give it your details like height, weight etc, what weight you want to get to and how much you want to lose (or gain) week and it will set you limits and targets for stuff like calories, fats, protein etc.

Myfitnesspal is ace.
Make sure you've got your profile setup properly in terms of your activity levels etc. It can have quite an impact on how mean it gets with the calorie allowance.
I've stuck with it for the last few months and it seems fairly accurate. Obviously it's just a rough guide and there's some variables it can't account for, but it's the best I've found.

Celery for example. 1cal - takes more to eat and digest. If you're hungry or want a snack celery is a good example. If you hate it though....... there's other options

I've been reasonably honest, my job is desk based, I do go to the gym of course but it's safer to add that as and when I go.
I hate celery, but I'm gonna try and find something that satisfies my carb and sugar cravings without being stuffed with either! I'm quite fortunate in that Broccoli is one of my all time favourite veg and it appears that this is quite good for you.
I NEED to get this gut under control so will be watching this thing closely

I set my target weight at 11st 04lb, looking to lose 2lb a week. I have an active job, so can spend most days walking around or otherwise on my feet, and I got a calorie limit of 1530 a day. You can get a lot of food in if you are sensible about what you are eating, but it will probably still be a fair bit less than you are used to. Eating the right stuff at the right time of day will stop you from feeling hungry.29 Years old

Also keep in mind that if you do any exercise, you can add that to your diary and you get the calories expended during exercise back to use on food for that day.
