Well, re sealed the whole car, used http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/p-1287-door-seal.asp... for the seals around the car. Generally seems a good fit, targa tops tight to begin with but bedding in. Then got about to doing the window to targa seal and used the targa channels from ml performance http://www.mlperformanceparts.co.uk/product/targa-... and again seems to fit well, looks like I need to readjust the driver side window a touch but nothing major. Plus most importantly I didn't get wet when it rained!!!
So, now after changing the plugs, HT leads, dizzy cap and fitting a new coil it all seems (fingers crossed and touching wood) to be doing very well indeed. Did have to take it to the local garage to adjust the timing and had them swap out an occasionally sticking thermostat (every once in a while on warm up it would pass my comfort zone on how hot the car should get and then after holding for a few secs drop much lower down in one..) but has been behaving very well in the heat, much better than me!!!
So, I think next thing is a toss up between a re-trim (including repair of my original seats, have a set of Mx5 seats that I have never loved as much) that I have been promising myself for several yrs or a nice shinny set of Gaz shocks and new bushings.... No way the wife will let me have both when we are supposed to saving for a house. On the re-trim front, anyone know of anyone good/not stupidly pricey in the East Midlands or surrounding areas? Plus am thinking maybe alacantara for seats and dash or alhambra (water proof I believe) as opposed to leather look.. Not sure which would cost me less of an arm and a leg.. Any opinions?

Part 266A
Used the bigger 19mm bead to heal seal the doors a bit better. Managed all the bends well and was easy to use/fit. Once on I use a rubber mallet to completely bed on. Was a little tight putting the Targa tops on for the first time after doing it but it provides a good seal for both wind/rain it seems. I bought far too much (12m) as was afraid I'd screw up but didn't and now have about 4 metres or so left... I'm sure I can find something to done with it!!!

Part 255; bought 2x1m sections and cut to size.
Bought the bigger one as thought it would be a bit more solid and it is. Used a water proof out glue from B+Q. Although I would recommend using a clear one if I were to do it again, had a panic moment when the excess beaded on the paint job and wasn't sure it would come off the paint... It did!

Easy to fit, just pealed away the old and glued for now. Will orbably mount with rivet/screw later but too much hassle for now, will probably look at it when I recover the panel (probably a couple of yrs off or so...). Again used a waterproof glue, holding harder than screwing it seems! Have a look where it needs to be before by lining it up with the window. When the seal was new had to help the window go under it (gentle closing while lifting rubber with keys etc) but now it has bedded in and formed to shape a bit no problems. Seems to seal the window well, no leaking that I can tell (even sprayed with a hose).

Went for the expoxy filled one due to heat under bonnet etc. No problems. Buy the bracket, it's quite big and would fit in old coil bracket.

Felt the rotor arm was expensive but dizzy cap not too bad. Both good quality and couldn't be bother to mess around too much on the internet to find cheaper etc..

New idle speed control valve (actually new!)

Dez you sound pretty practical you'd be amazed at how good your current seats come up with a weekends effort and a furniture clinic kit.

Drivers seat is very broken so is going to need some serious TLC, currently have a MX5 seat in but do miss the original! We'll see, not sure which way I am going to go yet.

I have just pulled both original seats apart, as bases gave way. Wire bracer pieces/frame very rusty. Runners posted to Mikel, but if there is anything else you require spings head rests or whatever let me know. I have the bare frames with tilt mechanism still working, most of the foam sections, cardboard inner and the plastic guard, although some was ripped. I even found some sticky tape wrapped around the base of the headrest mechanism, inside the body, printed with Callow & Maddox of Coventry, presumable the original suppliers...!

Damp sponge at the ready for overspill on the glue. Good for keeping the aluminium looking like aluminium!

Will also have a look at the seat in the next couple of weekends and may take up some the sundries!! Cheers.
