B&B recommendation near New Forest
Discussion
This one in my village gets great reviews, right next to the pub too

About 35 minute drive across The Forest, which is nice.

There is s fantastic hotel near Lyndhurst bit pricey though. Its called Chewton Glen and is the best hotel I have stayed in in the UK (I have stayed in quite a few circa 50 a year)
It's excellent for sure but at £300/night & minimum 2 night stay at weekends may not be quite what OP had in mind
When I was using budget accomodation in the area I would use Tyrells Ford Hotel or The Star in Ringwood. Used to be around £50/night & clean, simple, basic.

I know, I just didn’t want the op to miss out

Chewton Glen is nowhere near Lyndhurst - well, maybe 20 miles or so...it's the other side of New Milton

Hope that link works, theres a couple in Beaulieu itself, and theres always the Montagu Arms Hotel
Bearing in mind the traffic into Beaulieu can be horrendous when the autojumble is on, might be a sensible option as you can walk to it.
Theres couple in Dibden/Holbury/Langley that are probably much cheaper than the ones in Brokenhurst/Lyndhurst, and only 5/10 mins by car.

Food at the New Forest Hotel in Ashurst is rubbish. Typical bought in prepared pub food. Happy Cheese doesn't look much better, but I've never eaten in there.
Depends on the budget, but there are loads of much nicer places available.
I agree its not great, but assumed the OP didn't want to spend too much & they are all within a short walk from the B&B's with a short drive to Beaulieu through the Forest. Depends on the budget, but there are loads of much nicer places available.
