Porsche centre lock wheels - Tyre fitting?

Anyone on here own a GT3/GT3RS etc with centre lock wheels?

What is the situation regarding tyres and tyre fitment on these. My friendly local tyre fitter says that Porsche have this sewn up and only they can fit tyres. No doubt they sub out to ATS or sumilar from the OPC and probably double the price of everyone else. Interested to know what others have experienced.

specialists do them as well. but ask before hand as they need to have a specific adaptor and tools to torque them to 600nm

The adapter comes with the car. The 4 foot extender bar for the torque wrench doesn't :-).

OPC tyre prices (inc fitting) can be very competitive. Just get a couple of quotes from local OPCs.

I will only let OPC or folks like JZM touch my centre locks. Although one big independent (not JZM) didn't have the correct torque wrench or know about 600nm...somewhat scared me and i never went back.

I nearly always take my own tyres as I can get them much cheaper than they can, and they fit them for a very fair fee, and seem happy to do so. But of course you need a willing wife or mate to drive the other wagon with the tyres in so it doesn't always make sense to buy your own tyres as it's a faff doing it way I do it to just to save a few quid!

Whatever you do always check the button on the locks yourself and watch them torque the wheels. Also make sure they are using the right grease/slip (molly) agent. It changed at time of initial recall...can't check my notes right now, but someone else will be along in a moment with the correct info. The locking nut spins and torques up more smoothly and freely with new grease agent...if lock judders or makes sudden movements under torquing then you may have wrong grease agent.

Centre locks are a royal PITA!

Last time I changed mine I shopped around and Reading OPC were no more expensive than anyone else to be fair.
