Wanted : the only car for me....
Discussion
Hey all..
Long time user, (nearly 10yrs with one post!, and that was last night, after Rochester TVR bought the one I had nearly made my mind up on, lol...good for you mate enjoy!.), but have enjoyed reading and watching over the years, so thanks for that first.
Anyhoo.. time has come that I have the funds (to buy and run) & I am on the lookout for a Cerbera 4.5 please.
I kind of always have been, but never did see "the one" and thought if I am serious, and which I am!, maybe best to post up that I am looking, like some of the other members have and see if there's one lurking in a garage somewhere with her owner maybe thinking to sadly part ways.... you never know unless you ask, so here I am doing that very thing!.
I would like to find something that's been cared for, used & enjoyed. The colour is not top of the list, but mechanics and history foremost, as I guess any of them are, I will be checking the car out for all the usual problems, and will ask many a question too i'm afraid!....
Price range would depend on what's offered, condition miles history etc etc just the norm...I guess around £15k + or - depending...
I do check all the sites regular, but nothing really out there to date has taken my eye...except one that the owner now would like to keep for a while longer!.
So, there we go all out in the open, just need an owner now to step up and be brave and say hello!.
PM's welcome please, as will come through to my phone....& can reply quicker.
Cash is here waiting, I don't have to sell a car or any P/X hassle.
Will travel as far as needs be for the right car, but please, be honest with descriptions as no one likes to have their time wasted.
Looking forward to buying very soon, while we still have some Sun to really enjoy, and maybe meet up with some PH users if local.
Thanks!.

This sounds like a nice one. I had a lengthy chat with the owner yesterday and had it not been for me buying yesterday I would be on my way to view.

I've been looking for one too for a few months now.
The problem is that there are so few available and each one will be unique, with its own pros and cons, it's not like looking for a Focus
I've looked at 4 so far, but currently there are none that take my fancy. Patience is certainly required.

Hi, yes I did see your posts for one too, and indeed a Focus there not!.The problem is that there are so few available and each one will be unique, with its own pros and cons, it's not like looking for a Focus

One was mentioned in my original post. The second one wasn't in my first choice of colour, but I might still have gone for it, however it has since been sold. The four you looked at, what was the reasons you said no?, just for input.

The other two appeared to be sound mechanically but were let down by the condition of their paintwork and to a certain extent the interiors. I know this can be fixed, but it's additional expense and hassle, on top of a fair bit of expenditure in the first place.
One also had a dodgy bonnet catch and apparently the bonnet would pop open over a bump, again not a deal-breaker or too serious a problem as they're hinged at the front but if I was selling a car I'd be inclined to fix this before sale

Would you mind emailing me over some more info on what ones they were please?, may be ones I have not seen as not too fussed about paint work and interior as I would be able to afford to change if needs be.The other two appeared to be sound mechanically but were let down by the condition of their paintwork and to a certain extent the interiors. Many thanks!.
I notice both you guys are keen on 4.5 engines? I would not forget the 4.2 cars, I had one for 5 years & was as quick as any 4.5 ( excluding the RR cars ofcourse)I went out in. You will miss out on some bargain's & some cash if you think 4.5 is the only one to have & as far as 4.2 not selling a guy came twice drove the second time & drove it away ! I think they are all about the same just deliver the power a bit differently ,all bloody fast though!
PS
The bonnet catches on theses cars are can be a royal pain, you can fix them & it can come back, especially over a bump at speed!
How fast were you going when it happened, 1st time is a bit scary.

There's a nice 4.5 lightweight, getting a top end rebuild at the moment and a new clutch. It's at Hexham horseless carriages. Looks good, I have been thinking about it myself but after a great weekend with the t350 she's a keeper. Good luck with your search.

Hi John,John

I will make a phone call tomorrow and ask away.
Have been offered a few now and trying to get as much info/history and pictures before making any decision to buy, head and heart argue!.
Thanks again.

Nicky,I hope you are well? The decision to sell the Cerbera is a tough one but at the moment I just don't get time to enjoy it. I am sure when I get some time I will find a toy to play with.
